Selamat Tahun Baru Hijrah 1430

Assalamualaikum and hello to my loyal readers, family and friends. I'd like to wish you selamat tahun baru hijrah 1430. Time really fly so fast, in just a couple of days we will step into the year 2009. So any new resolutions people? Well, im looking forward for it.. more challenges and greater experience~

So heres a few inspiring thoughts that i took from a website.

Love your country?

Jagged Flag?

Patriotic? well, i guess Brunei Flag is just for decorations i guess. This is probably the worse that i come up with. Come to think of it, they are constructing a building that is to occupy the University students? STUDENTS, the country's assets and future leaders! How sad...

The Warrior showed off his talents

The Tribe

The Ibans are a branch of the Dayak peoples of Borneo. They were formerly known during the colonial period by the British as Sea Dayaks. Ibans were renowned for practising headhunting. Today, the days of headhunting and piracy are long gone and in has come the modern era of globalization technology for the Ibans.

The Ibans started moving to areas in what is today’s Sarawak (most of them) around the 15th century. After an initial phase of colonising and settling the river valleys, displacing or absorbing the local tribes, a phase of internecine warfare began.

Local leaders were forced to resist the tax collectors of the sultans of Brunei. At the same time, Malay influence was felt, and Iban leaders began to be known by Malay titles such as Datu (Datuk), Nakhoda and Orang Kaya.

Camera, Lights and Action!

beautifuls 1

Beautifuls

A pretty much lucky shot for me. Again, thank you to Zack for teaching me some camera Presets (well, i cant say its a camera trick.. coz i don't do any tricks here =p)

While we were shooting at the scenery, these beautiful ladies came down to the sand and took pictures at almost pitch black area. I didn't bring along my tripod so, we used the Lowepro bag pack as our stand. A couple of trial snaps, the third shot was almost perfect. I didn;t use the pop-up flash nor the external flash, just play around with the shutter speed. YUP, Slow shutter speed.

Seventh Heaven moments

Marriz

A portraiture of Marriz taken by Zack, a senior photographer in BruneiForeverForum.com using my Abby with a 50mm F1.8 lens. No adjustments were made (no Post-processing). It was taken upon our arrival at one of the popular hotel (by the local) in Kota Kinabalu.

Joking at the Road Side

Clowns

Caught them wondering about at the road side when we were on our way to the hotel.

When Everyone can Fly

Air Asia

And this is my first time on board of the Asia's economical airline service provider, AirAsia. Right after the Ferry ride, the group and i headed to Labuan's Airport Terminal and waited for our flight to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. It wasn't bad at all as i expected. The plane is pretty spacious, good airconditioner and good stewardship service (well, our flight was only took 14 minutes from Labuan to Kota Kinabalu) It was so funny that, when we wanted to ordered a drink, the captain of the plane announced that the flight is about to land. And all of us laughed our head off.. it was just so hilarious. I wouldn't mind flying with Air Asia again in the future.
